Zodwa Wabantu is a South African media personality, socialite, dancer, and entrepreneur. She gained widespread attention in 2016 for her energetic dance moves at Durban’s Eyadini Lounge and has since become a prominent figure in the entertainment industry in South Africa and beyond.
Zodwa Wabantu was born on 30 October 1985 in Soweto and grew up in a rural area in KwaZulu-Natal. She lost her mother at the tender age of 11, prompting her to mature before her time to face the harsh realities of life. She was then raised by her aunt and grandmother.
“My mom passed away when I was 11. That is the reason I left home when I was 16. Life was changing, and it wasn’t easy. I had to fight for food, and I could see then that that isn’t the way life should be. I was asked why I was eating when my cousins weren’t. So I had no choice but to move. I knew I needed to hustle.”

She used to work for a South African debt collection company until she quit the white-collar job to become a dancer. Zodwa’s rise to fame began with her electrifying dance moves at the Eyadini Lounge in Durban.

Zodwa Wabantu has been involved in several controversies. In 2017, she was banned from performing at the Harare International Carnival in Zimbabwe after the country’s acting President, Phelekezela Mphoko, deemed her act “immoral”. In 2019, she was deported from Zambia after authorities deemed her performance “immoral” and “unacceptable”.
Zodwa Wabantu has been open about her personal life. She terminated several pregnancies while growing up because she was naughty and did not use condoms. In 2006, she was blessed with a son named Vuyo.

Zodwa Wabantu has been in several relationships and prefers to hang out and date young men. Before her current relationship, Zodwa was in a relationship with a younger man called Ntobeko Linda. After dating for about six years, Zodwa proposed to Ntobeko in 2019 and said yes, and they later broke up.
Zodwa Wabantu’s ex-boyfriends include Ntobeko Linda, who is now a traditional healer just like Zodwa, and Vusi Ngubane, who has moved on and is ready to start a new chapter with his fiancée, Thenjiwe Mpanza.
