This is the biography of Zandisile “Zandi” Nhlapo, she  is a multi-talented seasoned South African television presenter, businesswoman, and actress. She gained recognition as a continuity presenter on SABC1 in the early part of the 21st century. With a career spanning over two decades, Nhlapo has made significant contributions to the entertainment industry in South Africa.

Dance and Modeling Beginnings

Nhlapo’s career in the entertainment industry started when she became a member of a dance crew called The Whizz Kids. At the age of 17, she landed a role in a game show called TRIO. Soon after, she ventured into modeling and became a sought-after figure, gracing the covers of magazines such as True and Y in the early 2000s. She was hailed as the leading lady of local beauty pageants during that time.

Continuity Presenter and Television Career

Nhlapo gained prominence as a continuity presenter on SABC1 in the early 2000s. Her on-screen presence and charismatic personality made her a favorite among viewers. She continued her role as a continuity presenter for close to two decades.

In 2003, she took a hiatus from the entertainment industry to expand her skills in a branding logistics company. During this time, she launched her own events management and branding company.

After a decade-long break, Nhlapo returned to television in 2013 as the host of’s first-ever cooking show, Cooking Gospel. In this show, she cooked with a different celebrity guest each week while playing gospel videos. However, her stint on the show was short-lived, and she once again left the screens.

Zandi Nhlapo Acting Career

In 2021, Nhlapo made her acting debut on the soapie Imbewu: The Seed. She portrayed the character of Nompi Khanyeza, Fikile’s (played by Phindile Gwala) mother. While she successfully made her comeback as an actor, television presenting has always held a special place in Nhlapo’s heart, evoking a sense of nostalgia from her early days in the industry.

Host and Recent Projects

Currently, Nhlapo has returned to the screens as a host. She secured a hosting role on BET’s TV show, Uncut. Her captivating presence and ability to connect with audiences make her a natural fit for hosting roles.

Beauty Contests and Salon Venture

Aside from her television career, Nhlapo ventured into beauty contests and emerged as a winner in several prestigious pageants, including Miss Sundowns, Miss Orlando Piraes, and Miss 707.

In 2017, Nhlapo established a kid-centric salon called Mini You Mini Me. Recognizing the need for a salon environment suitable for children, she created a space where kids could choose from a variety of hairstyles and enjoy a playful playground while waiting for their turn.

Personal Life

Zandi Nhlapo was previously married to Ralph Zikala, with whom she had her first child, a daughter. The couple was together for eight years before their marriage ended in divorce. After the divorce, Nhlapo found love again with renowned broadcaster Bob Mabena. They welcomed a daughter named Masala Mabena together. However, tragedy struck when Mabena passed away from a cardiac arrest, leaving Nhlapo devastated.

Following the loss, Nhlapo entered a relationship with lawyer Khethang Malefane, with whom she had a child. However, the couple eventually broke up, leaving fans speculating about their separation.
