Main purpose: To manage and implement Technology requirements for the SIU, achieving minimal downtime and improved network connectivity in order to maintain and enhance agreed service levels.

Minimum qualification and experience: BSc (Computer Science); BCom (Information Systems) or similar professional qualification. ITIL certification will be an advantage. Six years’ relevant experience in Technology of which two years at managerial level.

Key performance areas (Include but not limited to): Provide strategic management to Technology Section. Manage IT staff by training employees, communicating job expectations, and monitoring performance. Monitor daily operations, including server hardware, software, operating systems, and IT support. Coordinate technology installations, upgrades, and maintenance. Test, troubleshoot, and modify information systems so that they operate effectively. Manage potential Technology risks. Departmental Planning and Implementation. Staff Management. Stakeholder Management.

Required knowledge, Technical Skills and Behaviours (include but not limited to): 

  • Understand the public sector budgeting process.
  • Extensive knowledge of all aspects of IT systems.
  • Knowledge of best practice in procurement of hardware and software and related services.
  • Proven experience in managing IT infrastructure and services.
  • Knowledge of technical requirements for modern flexible working office environments.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure fit on business continuity requirements with a specific focus on security and disaster recovery.
  • Proficient in computer hardware, cabling installation and support, wireless technology applications and interface, and IT security.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows software, including server, office, and exchange.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Management and leadership skills.
  • Multi-tasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
