Sonia Mbele is a multi-talented South African individual, excelling in various fields such as acting, modeling, TV production, and entrepreneurship.

She made history by producing the first-ever Real Housewives franchise in Africa and currently serves as the executive producer for Real Housewives of Johannesburg.

Age

Sonia Mbele was born in December 1976 in Natalspruit, South Africa.

Career

In 1998, Mbele embarked on her career as a lead actress in the SABC 2 drama production called Phamokate. Her talent was recognized in 1999 when she received the FNB Vita Award for Most Promising New Actress.

Mbele gained widespread fame in South Africa through her role as Ntombi Khumalo in the SABC 1 soap series Generations, which she portrayed from 2003 to 2011.

Her exceptional performance earned her the Golden Horn Award for Best Actress in a TV Soap at the South African Film and Television Awards in 2009.

Mbele made history as the first black celebrity to become the face of Dark & Lovely, Lux, and Sun-Silk in South Africa. In 2018, she introduced the first African installment of The Real Housewives franchise, titled Real Housewives of Johannesburg, under her production company Sonia Mbele Films.

Continuing her success, in 2021, she created another reality TV series called Pastor’s Wives for HONEY TV.

Personal Life

In 2006, the actress Sonia Mbele tied the knot with Leslie Sedibe after being in a relationship for some time. The wedding ceremony, as seen in Sonia Sedibe’s wedding pictures, was a grand affair with approximately 100 guests in attendance.

However, despite the initial joy, their marriage did not stand the test of time. The couple divorced in 2014, which Sonia Mbele described as the most challenging experience she has ever faced.
