Sol Phenduka is a South African radio personality, DJ, music producer, reality TV star, composer, and podcaster. He was born on 18 February 1987 in Vosloorus, Gauteng, and has been active in the entertainment industry since 2008.
Early Life and Education
Sol Phenduka grew up in a single-parent household, as his father denied his paternity when he was born. He later learned this and has resented his father ever since. He attended St Francis College in Benoni, where he completed his matric in 2006. He then enrolled at the University of Johannesburg, where he obtained his Bachelor’s degree in 2011. He developed an interest in music at an early age and started as a rapper.
Sol Phenduka Radio Career
Sol Phenduka started his radio career as an intern at YFM through the Y Academy internship program. He impressed the station managers with his talent and charisma and became a co-host on Mo Flava’s breakfast show “Flava In Da Mornin”. He hosted the YFM morning show for four years until February 2014.
Sol Phenduka then moved to 5FM, where he joined DJ Fresh’s new breakfast show “Fresh at 5”. He worked at 5FM for two years, until October 2016. He resigned from 5FM to focus on other projects and his personal life. He was also once suspended from 5FM for making offensive statements about a girl who had survived being murdered, when the rest of her family was killed.
Big Brother Mzansi
Sol Phenduka participated in the third season of Big Brother Mzansi (South Africa) in 2014. He entered the house as a celebrity housemate, along with other famous personalities such as Lexi van Niekerk, Mandla Hlatshwayo, and Katlego Mohoaduba. He was evicted from the house after 56 days, finishing in seventh place.
Podcast And Chill
Sol Phenduka is currently one of the co-hosts of Podcast and Chill, the most popular podcast in South Africa. He joined it in November 2020. The podcast is hosted by MacG, The Ghost Lady and Sol Phenduka every Monday at 3 p.m. on YouTube. The podcast covers various topics such as entertainment news, celebrity gossip, social issues, and personal stories. The podcast has over one million subscribers and has received rave reviews from fans and critics alike.
Sol Phenduka Music Career
Sol Phenduka is also a successful music producer, composer, and songwriter. He has released two singles in 2010 and 2011, titled “Isolomzi” and “Uthando Lwakho”, respectively. He also released an album in 2012 titled “Chapter One”. His music genres include deep house, electro house, tribal house, afrobeat, nu jazz, and afro dub. In 2023, he dropped a song called iJager, which featured Murumba Pitch.
Sol Phenduka made his television debut after many years as the host of the SA Hip Hop Awards in 2021. In 2022, Sol Phenduka was the host of the Big Brother Mzansi spin-off, “Ses’fikile” which aired on Mzansi Wethu. He also hosted the reunion of the hit Showmax Original reality series This Body Works For Me (TBWFM), which premiered on Wednesday, 8 March 2023.

Sol Phenduka is a proud father of a daughter named Malaika. He is currently in a relationship but has kept his girlfriend out of the public eye.
