Simphiwe Ngema, born on August 29, 1989, in Klipspruit, Soweto, in Johannesburg, South Africa, is 32 years old as of May 2023. She had a difficult birth, and her parents anticipated having a boy when her mother became pregnant. Simz Ngema is a middle child in a family of three and has sisters named Baxolile and Ziph’ezinhle.
Simz did her early education in Sandton Joburg in a combined academic institution, Chinese Kuo Ting School. She developed her love for acting and started seeing the performing arts as a possible career path for the future. She is also a qualified journalist.
Simz Ngema Acting Career
Simphiwe Ngema began her career at a young age, and she attributes her parents for motivating her to follow her aspirations. Nevertheless, she acknowledges Duma Ndlovu, the originator of Muvhango, for giving her a kickstart in her career.

In 2018, Simphiwe’s career picked up once more as she debuted as Slay Queen Buhle on The Queen, a popular drama series that airs on Thursday night.
She also starred in productions such as Bone of My Bones, Broken Vows, Isidingo and Greed & Desire. She is currently playing the role of Phindile on the e.tv drama series Gold Diggers.
Marriage to Dumi Masilela
Simz Ngema and actor Dumi Masilela met through a mutual friend who introduced them to each other. They started dating in 2014 and kept their relationship off social media for a long time.
Simz married Dumi in May 2017 in a beautiful intimate traditional wedding. Dumi was a talented actor, musician, and former football player who was known for his role as Sifiso on Rhythm City.
Their marriage was cut short when Dumi was shot and killed in a botched hijacking in Tembisa in August 2017, a few months before their white wedding. He was 29 years old.
Simz Ngema was widowed at 28 and had no children with Dumi. She later paid tribute to him through a song titled ‘I Love Me More’, which speaks of a woman choosing herself in a relationship. Dumi also wrote a heartfelt song for Simz before his death, which was released by his record label.
