Early Life

Nqobile Khumalo was born in Mpumalanga, South Africa, into a Swazi family. At the age of two months, her family relocated to Johannesburg. She completed her secondary education at St. Mary’s Diocesan School and later pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism at the Midrand Graduate Institute.

 Early Career Beginnings

Khumalo’s journey in the entertainment industry began at a young age when she was discovered as a model at the age of 12. Her talent was spotted by a woman while she was on an ice-cream date with her mother. At the age of nine, she made her television debut on The Felicia Show, hosted by Felicia Mabuza-Suttle. Despite her early success as a model, Khumalo developed a passion for the performing arts, which initially concerned her parents.

Acting Career

In 2013, Khumalo decided to pursue her passion for acting while continuing her studies at the University of South Africa. Her first television appearance came in 2013 when she portrayed Cindy in the debut season of the popular series Isibaya. She further solidified her acting skills by taking on the role of Nhlanhla in SABC1’s youth drama series Loxion Lyric in 2014.

Khumalo’s breakthrough role came in 2016 when she portrayed Hlengiwe Twala in the daily drama series Scandal!. Her remarkable performance in the role garnered widespread acclaim and propelled her to greater recognition. In 2019, she received international acclaim when she was awarded the title of Best African Actress at The New Vision International Film Festival in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Throughout her career, Khumalo has appeared in various television series, including Soul City, where she portrayed the role of Relebogile “Riri” Diholo. She has also showcased her talent in films such as Jewel, a Netflix original, where she played the character of Siya Jewels. Additionally, she has appeared in the movie Uncovered.

Her acting repertoire includes appearances in projects like Broken Vows, High Rollers, Gauteng Maboneng, Mfolozi Street, Saints and Sinners, Rockville, She’s The One, The Herd, and Task Force, among others.
