Nozipho Nkelemba is a versatile South African actress, casting director, director, brand endorser, and scriptwriter known for her contributions across various facets of the entertainment industry.

Early Life

Nozipho Nkelemba was born in 1991 in South Africa. She received formal training in performance and directing at the Wits National School of the Arts.

She furthered her education by earning a degree in Brand Communications from the AAA School of Advertising. Nkelemba is fluent in English, Sesotho, Setswana, and Zulu.

Acting Career

Before embarking on her acting career, Nkelemba appeared in commercials, notably playing “a girl on a bus” in an Allan GrayAllan Gray insurance commercial. Her acting debut came in 2006 with roles in the SABC2 drama series Heartlines as Ayanda Sibeko and in the SABC1 anthology miniseries When We Were Black as Mmatsietsi.

In subsequent years, Nkelemba continued to build her career with notable roles such as “Nana” in the parliamentary drama 90 Plein Street (2011) and “Dineo Rachabane” in the feature film The Forgotten Kingdom (2011). She also appeared in the anthology Mzansi Love (2012) as Arizona and Nomsa, and gained popularity for her role as “Charlotte” in the soap opera Rhythm City.

Nkelemba’s career expanded into casting direction, where she worked on projects like Hustle (2016) and Keeping Score (2016), both for eKasi+ and SABC2 respectively.

She also ventured into scriptwriting and directing, notably winning the Best Achievement in Scriptwriting for TV Drama at the South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs) for her work on Emoyeni (2018). In 2020, she directed the telenovela Gomora and received the Best Achievement in Directing Award in the Telenovela category at the 2021 SAFTAs.
