Nomalanga Shozi was born and raised in Port Shepstone, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. She grew up in a large family with 12 siblings and takes pride in her Zulu heritage. Shozi received her education at Marburg Secondary School and later attended Rosebank College, where she obtained a qualification in public relations.
Nomalanga Shozi Career
Shozi’s career in broadcasting began in her hometown of Port Shepstone in 2012 when she joined the broadcasting team at UGU Youth Radio. She hosted the breakfast show, showcasing her talent and passion for radio. In 2014, she relocated to Durban and joined Gagasi FM, a popular radio station in South Africa. She worked her way up in the industry and eventually became a co-host of the afternoon drive-time show “The Drive” in 2019, which aired on weekdays from 3-6 pm.
In addition to her radio career, Shozi ventured into acting. In 2018, she had a brief stint on e.tv’s popular soap opera “Rhythm City,” where she portrayed the character Nomalanga. Her acting skills showcased her versatility and added another dimension to her career.

She modelled for Woolworths’ A/W ’17 collection and was featured in Marie Claire’s “Dear Body” campaign in 2018, which celebrated diverse body types. In November 2018, Shozi joined BET Africa as a presenter on air and ground. Nomalanga Shozi was in a relationship with Bandile Mbere, one-half of the popular DJ duo Major League DJz. Bandile previously dated rapper Nadia Nakai before being romantically involved with Shozi. At a recent event, Shozi announced that she is a single mother, expressing her determination and confidence as she embraces her new role.
In early 2022, Shozi and Bandile Mbere announced the birth of their baby girl. Although they have not shared the baby’s name or any images, Shozi confirmed in interviews that she has become a mother.
