Nasty C is a South African rapper, songwriter, actor, and record producer who has taken the music industry by storm with his catchy lyrics, versatile flow, and impressive production skills. He is widely regarded as one of the best rappers in Africa and has won several awards and accolades for his work.

He is also the founder of his own record label, Tall Racks Records, and has collaborated with international artists such as A$AP Ferg, French Montana, T.I., Ari Lennox, and Rowlene.

Nasty C Early Life and Influences

Nasty C was born as Nsikayesizwe David Junior Ngcobo on February 11, 1997, in Diepkloof, a borough of Soweto, Johannesburg. He lost his mother in a car accident when he was only 11 months old and moved to Durban, Kwa-Zulu Natal, to be raised by his father, David Maviyo Ngcobo, who is a human resources manager. He has two brothers, Siyabonga and Olwethu Ngcobo.

Nasty C developed his passion for rap music at a young age and learned the basics of producing music from his older brother Siyabonga, who also influenced him to become a rapper. He started writing his own songs when he was nine years old and recorded his first mixtape, One Kid, a Thousand Coffins, when he was 15 years old. The rapper cites American rappers such as Lil Wayne, T.I., Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and A$AP Rocky as some of his musical inspirations.

Nasty C rose to fame in 2015 with his second mixtape, Price City, featuring the hit single Juice Back. The song became a popular anthem in South Africa and earned him the Best Freshman Award at the 2015 South African Hip Hop Awards. He also released a remix of the song with Nigerian singer Davido and South African rapper Cassper Nyovest.

In 2016, Nasty C released his debut album, Bad Hair, under Mabala Noise Entertainment. The album received critical acclaim and topped the iTunes chart in South Africa. It also spawned the singles Hell Naw, Don’t Do It, Switched Up, and Phases. The album was later re-released as Bad Hair Extensions with four additional tracks and a guest appearance by American rapper French Montana on the song Allow.

In 2018, Nasty C released his second album, Strings and Bling, under Universal Music Africa. Various outlets hailed The album as one of the best rap albums of the year and featured the singles Jungle and SMA. The album also showcased Nasty C’s growth as an artist and his versatility in different genres such as R&B, pop, and dancehall.

The album won two South African Music Awards for Album of the Year and Best Rap Album and two All Africa Music Awards for Best Male Artist in Southern Africa and Best Artiste/Duo/Group in African Hip Hop.

In 2020, Nasty C signed a joint venture deal with Def Jam Recordings Africa and released his third album, Zulu Man with Some Power. The album marked his official debut in the United States and featured collaborations with T.I., Ari Lennox, Rowlene, Tellaman, Lil Gotit, Lil Keed, and DJ Whoo Kid.

The album also included the singles There They Go, Eazy, Palm Trees, and Bookoo Bucks. The album received positive reviews from critics and fans alike and debuted at number one on the Apple Music albums chart in South Africa.

In 2022, Nasty C released a mixtape titled Ivyson Army Tour Mixtape to celebrate his successful tour in South Africa. The mixtape featured new songs such as No More and Crazy Crazy as well as remixes of some of his previous hits.

Nasty C is currently in a relationship with Samukelisiwe Zulu, who is also known as Sammie Heavens. The couple has been dating since 2016 and often shares their love on social media. Nasty C has also tattooed Sammie’s name on his chest. As of September 2023, they were expecting their first child.

Nasty C is also involved in various charitable causes and initiatives. He is an ambassador for the #1120under5 campaign that aims to combat infant mortality in South Africa. He has also donated laptops to schools in rural areas and supported students with bursaries through his foundation.
