This is the biography of South African actor Mpho Sebeng, who featured in productions like Savage Beauty and ‘The Queen’. He died on 5 May 2024.

 

Early Life

Mpho Sebeng’s formative years were marked by significant achievements and a passion for the arts. Born on December 1, 1992, in Soweto, Sebeng’s early life was dedicated to drama and performance. He matriculated in 2011 from West Ridge High School, where he was not only academically successful, achieving two distinctions, but also excelled in extracurricular activities. During his high school years, Sebeng was the first student to receive full colours for drama at the age of 17, showcasing his early commitment to acting.

Sebeng was a part of the youth television program Craz-e on e.tv. On Craz-e, Sebeng had the opportunity to showcase his versatility and connect with a younger audience.

Mpho Sebeng Acting Career

Sebeng made his television debut in the SABC drama series, “Justice for All.” His first major TV role was in the Mzansi Magic drama, “Ring of Lies,” which earned him a Best Actor Safta nomination in 2018.

Sebeng showcased his talent in a variety of shows, including “Savage Beauty,” “The Brave Ones,” and “Miseducation” on Netflix, as well as “The Queen,” “The Throne,” “Zbondiwe,” “Scandal,” and “Hush Money” on various South African networks. His big screen roles included performances in “Winnie,” alongside Jennifer Hudson and Terrence Howard, “Ngoma Film,” “Collision,” and “The Jakes are Missing,” which garnered him an AMVCA (Africa Magic Viewers Choice Award) Best Supporting Actor nomination in 2017.

Sebeng’s contributions also included his influence on the industry and the inspiration he provided to aspiring actors.

Regarding his personal life, Mpho Sebeng kept his relationships private. There is no public information available about a girlfriend. In an interview, when asked about his relationship status, he jokingly referred to finding Cinderella’s glass slipper, which suggests he had a playful approach to questions about his personal life.

Mpho Sebeng tragically died in a car accident on 5 May 2024 in Potchefstroom, North West Province.
