Melusi Mbele was born on November 23, 1982, in Durban, KZN, South Africa. He attended Mount View Secondary School and then studied Broadcasting Production at Icesa City Campus in Durban2. After graduating from Icesa, he faced the problem of not finding a job and ventured into construction. He did small jobs on sites, roads, and bridges in preparation for the 2010 World Cup. He later worked at a call centre.

Melusi Mbele started his acting career in high school when he and his friends produced and acted in a play that they took around Verulam. People reacted with tears and standing ovations.

He became more famous when he was one of the ten finalists of the first Class Act reality TV competition. He did not win, but the show opened doors for him in the acting industry.

Melusi has appeared in several TV shows, such as Isidingo, Muvhango, Soul City, and Rhythm City. He is known for playing the conniving, arrogant, and seductive womanizer Vuyo on Soul City, the reclusive Dumi Hadebe on Muvhango, the charming and ambitious Zolani on Rhythm City, and the loyal and brave Bekumuzi on Isibaya. He was nominated for a 2019 SAFTA Award for Best Supporting Actor – TV Soap for his role as Bekumuzi. In 2023, he won the SAFTA Best Actor in a TV Soapie
Currently, he plays Jojo Kubeka on Scandal, the first-born son who knows all the family secrets. He is also a presenter, motivational speaker, and businessman.
