This is the biography of Masoja “Solle” Josiah Msiza, he is a prominent multi-talented South African actor, poet, musician, storyteller and writer.  He gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of “Nkunzi Mhlongo” in the critically acclaimed telenovela Uzalo.

Early Life

Masoja Msiza was born in Kwa-Thema, a township located in the Gauteng province of South Africa. From a young age, he displayed a passion for acting and actively participated in art and drama classes. At the age of 14, he won a drama competition at his school, further fueling his love for the performing arts. After completing his education, Msiza initially worked as a miner but was later dismissed alongside other miners involved in a strike. This turning point in his life prompted him to pursue his lifelong dream of becoming an actor.

Masoja Msiza’s career spans various artistic disciplines, including poetry, stage and television acting, music, and storytelling. He began his artistic journey as a poet and later ventured into stage and television acting. Msiza has appeared in several notable films, including “Kalushi: The Story of Solomon Mahlangu” and “A Million Colours.” However, he is most renowned for his portrayal of the ruthless crime lord Nkunzebomvu “Nkunzi” Mhlongo in Uzalo, one of South Africa’s most popular television shows.

Throughout his career, Msiza has also made appearances in numerous TV series, such as “Scandal!,” “Shreds and Dreams,” “Rhythm City,” “Intersexions,” “Sokhulu & Partners,” and “Making Cents with the Sitholes.” In 2016, he achieved his first leading role in the television telenovela “Ring of Lies.”

In addition to his acting pursuits, Masoja Msiza has contributed his writing talents to various projects. He wrote poems for the South African National Football Team during the AFCON tournament held in Tunisia in 2004. Furthermore, he has created and performed promotional poems for Ukhozi FM, South Africa’s largest radio station.

Outside of his acting career, Msiza co-hosted the inaugural Cothoza Music Awards alongside Dudu Khoza, an event organized by the renowned Acappella group Ladysmith Black Mambazo on June 22, 2019.
