Early Life
Makgotso Monyemorathoe’s early life was shaped by her roots in Katlehong, South Africa, where she spent her formative years. She attended Alberview Primary School in Alberton, immersing herself in the world of education and creativity.
Makgotso M’s heritage is a blend of Zulu from her mother’s side and Pedi from her father’s side, reflecting the rich cultural tapestry of South Africa.
In 2003, at the age of eleven, she embarked on a transformative journey when she, along with her mother, a nurse, and her sister, moved to England. Their initial residence was in Brighton, where she attended East Brighton College of Media and Art (COMART). Later, they settled in Hitchin, where she continued her education at The Priory School. During this period, she achieved the status of a naturalized British citizen.
England became a pivotal chapter in Makgotso M’s life, igniting her passion for drama. She actively participated in school productions and local clubs, laying the foundation for her future in the entertainment industry.
She pursued A Levels in Theatre Studies, Media, and Psychology, further honing her skills before enrolling at Brunel University London. Additionally, she joined the National Youth Theatre, gaining valuable experience.
After completing her studies with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and Film Studies, she returned to her homeland, South Africa, in 2014, ready to embark on her professional journey.

Makgotso Monyemorathoe’s career in the world of entertainment took flight with her television debut in 2014, making a guest appearance in the third season of “My Perfect Family” on SABC1. This marked the beginning of her ascent in the industry, and she soon made her film debut in “Ayanda,” directed by Sara Blecher and produced by Terry Pheto.
The year 2016 proved to be a breakthrough for Makgotso M as she ventured into soap operas, taking on the roles of Kamogelo Tsotetsi in “Isidingo” and Onika in “Muvhango.” However, in October of that year, she truly shone, as she assumed the main role of Tishiwe in the Mzansi Magic teen drama “Is’Thunzi,” captivating audiences with her talent.
In 2019, Makgotso M continued to make her mark with a main role as Moipone Molopo in the Showmax mystery miniseries “The Girl from St. Agnes.” Her versatility in the industry was evident as she also took on a supporting role in the BET+ original “A Royal Surprise,” a testament to her range as an actress.
