Early Life and Career Beginnings
L’Vovo Derrango was born Thokozani Sphamandla Ndlovu and is a South African musician known for his contribution to the Kwaito music genre. He was born in KwaZulu-Natal and grew up in a musical family. His father, who was a member of a band, introduced him to music at an early age. As a result, L’Vovo began his music career as a teenager, performing at school events and local clubs.
Achievements and Awards
Despite the ups and downs in his professional career, L’Vovo has always been able to get back up after crashing. He has received three nominations for SAMA honors and won The Best Kwaito at the 2007 Metro FM awards. He has also won Song of the Year at the same awards ceremony. In addition, he performed alongside musical icons Ringo Madlingozi and Thandiswa Mazwai, as well as Big Nuz at the 2011 MTV Base Awards in Nigeria.
L’Vovo has been able to earn a substantial amount of money from his music career. In 2014, he sold a Mercedes Benz ML worth R1.3 million, a C200 Sports, and a Hyundai H1, in addition to leasing a home in Durban’s Manor Gardens. However, rumors have circulated about his finances, with some people claiming that he may have overspent the funds he was given when he joined Afrotainment.
L’Vovo has been linked to several women throughout his career, but his most publicized relationship was with model Thick Leeyonce. Unfortunately for L’Vovo, his attempts to woo her on social media were met with public rejection. Despite the humiliation, L’Vovo has remained focused on his music career.
L’Vovo has released several albums throughout his career, including The Teddy Bear, The Heavyweight, Irresistible, Inamandla, The Fabulous, and The Headmaster.
Philanthropy and Activism
L’Vovo is not just a musician, but also a philanthropist and activist. He has been involved in several community-driven initiatives, such as performing at a Christmas party for impoverished children in the Eastern Cape. He has also served as the 2009 National Government Election Ambassador, a Love Life Ambassador, and an ambassador for the 16 Days of Activism on Violence against Women and Children Abuse Campaign. Additionally, he was the KZN Sports, Arts, and Culture Department Ambassador for the 2010 FIFA World Cup and is the brand ambassador of Zoo York clothing Label.
Lvovo Derrango suffered a stroke in 2022 days after his friend Mampintsha died.
The terrible news was announced by his record label Derrango Records and Entertainment, in a statement published on social media.
L’vovo suffered a minor stroke, the same which took Big Nuz star Mampintsha’s life.
Lvovo and Mampintsha produced several songs, which include Amabhoza, Next Better Man, and Original.
