Early Life
Mbane was born on 16 May 1979 in Butterworth, situated in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. Her educational journey began at Clarendon Girls’ High School in East London. Later, from 1998 to 2000, she attended Technikon Witwatersrand. She continued her academic pursuits, earning a B.Com Marketing degree from the University of South Africa (UNISA).

Early Career
Before embarking on her acting career, Mbane was involved in numerous advertising campaigns, becoming the face of brands like Knorrox, Kellogg’s (Chocos), Brand Power (Ponds), Rama, Milo, Dettol, and McCain, among others. Her distinctive voice also graced commercials for Google, Edgars, KFC, DStv, the IDZ (Industrial Development Zone), SALGA, UIF, Enterprise, Blue Ribbon, Sanlam, African Bank, and ECSA
Television Debut
In 2009, Lusanda Mbane made her television debut by joining the cast of the SABC2 soap opera Muvhango, where she played the role of “Advocate Macheke.” Her talent quickly caught the industry’s attention, leading to her inclusion in the SABC1 soap opera Generations in 2010, where she portrayed “Naomi Malotana.” Her role in Generations gained immense popularity, and she continued in the role until 2011.
In 2011, Mbane made a guest appearance as “Joyce” in the eleventh season of the SABC1 drama series Soul City. She also starred in the SABC1 sitcom Abo Mzala, playing the character “Zodwa.” However, she departed from the role after the first season.
The year 2013 marked a significant turning point in Mbane’s career. She appeared in several soap operas, including The Khumalos as “MaKhumalo” until 2015, the SABC1 drama series Tempy Pushas as “Aliah,” and a cameo role as a “doctor” in the third season of the Mzansi Magic soap opera Isibaya. Notably, she was featured in the South African Airways in-flight safety video during the same year.
In 2016, Mbane’s talents were showcased in the second season of the SABC1 romantic comedy series Dream World, where she played “Penney.” She also joined the cast of the SABC1 legal drama series Sokhulu & Partners, portraying “Nobuhle Pasha.”
Boniswa in “Scandal!”
One of her most prominent roles came in 2016 when she played the recurring character of “Boniswa Langa” in the popular e.tv soap opera Scandal!, a role she continued until 2021. Her exceptional performance in the show earned her the Outstanding Lead Actress award at the Royal Soapie Awards.
Versatility in Soap Operas
Simultaneously, during her tenure on “Scandal!,” she took on the recurring role of “Thembi Mdlalose” in seasons six and seven of the soap opera Isibaya. In 2021, she appeared in the e.tv. serial Imbewu.
Entrepreneurial Ventures
Lusanda Mbane’s career isn’t limited to the entertainment industry. She is the Managing Director and Founder of the women’s empowerment movement “Zazi Zithande Zithembe,” established in 2012, and the recruitment company “Ellenina Professional Recruitment,” founded in 2008. Additionally, she was chosen to be the face and voice of the South African Airways in-flight safety video in 2013.
