Biography: Khayalethu Xaba is a South African actor, comedian, and fashion designer. He rose to fame after competing in the Mzansi Magic reality television show Style Squad in 2019, where he showcased his creative and innovative designs. Khaya has since appeared in several TV shows and films, such as Shaka Ilembe, Smoke and Mirrors, Quantum Sound, and Bengilele Hotel. Early Life and Education
Khayalethu Xaba was born on August 15, 2004 in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. He grew up in a family of artists, as his father was a painter and his mother was a singer. He developed a passion for fashion and acting from a young age and often participated in school plays and talent shows. Khayalethu attended Parklands High School, where he excelled in academics and sports. He graduated with distinction in 2022 and hoped to pursue a degree in Film but showbiz happened.
Kayalethu Xaba Career
Xaba started his career as a fashion designer in 2019 when he auditioned for the Mzansi Magic reality show Style Squad. He was one of the 12 contestants who competed for the title of South Africa’s best young designer. Khayalethu impressed the judges and viewers with his original and diverse creations, such as a futuristic jumpsuit, a traditional Zulu outfit, and a glamorous red carpet gown. He made it to the top three but lost to Thando Mkhize.
However, Khayalethu’s exposure on the show opened many doors for him in the entertainment industry. He plays Mpendulo, a charming and charismatic DJ, in the e.tv soapie Smoke and Mirrors in 2023.
He became a fan favourite for his chemistry with co-star Zazi Kunene, who played his love interest Sindi. Khaya also appeared in the SABC 1 musical drama Quantum Sound in 2021, where he played Sizwe, a talented rapper who struggles with fame and addiction.
In 2022, Khayalethu made his big screen debut in the comedy film Bengilele Hotel, where he starred as Lucky, a naive and adventurous hotel manager who gets involved in hilarious mishaps with his guests.
Khaya is also on Shaka iLembe, a TV series that explores the story of the making of the iconic African king, from his childhood through to adulthood, during the 1700s. In addition to acting, Khayalethu Xaba is also a popular social media personality. He joined TikTok in 2020, and started posting funny videos of himself doing impressions, jokes, dances, challenges, and skits. He often collaborates with other celebrities, such as Priddy Flash, Joseph Dary, Luhtwizzy, Bliss Modiba, and Thabiso Molokomme. His videos have gone viral several times, earning him millions of views and likes. He also has a YouTube channel called KHAYALETHU XABA TV, where he uploads more of his comedy content.
Khayalethu Xaba Personal Life
Khayalethu Xaba is currently single, but he has been linked to several co-stars and friends in the past. He dated Thando Mkhize, the winner of Style Squad, for a few months in 2019, but they broke up due to their busy schedules. The actor was also rumoured to be dating Zazi Kunene, his Smoke and Mirrors co-star, but they denied any romantic involvement and said they were just good friends. He has also been seen hanging out with Bliss Modiba, his Quantum Sound co-star, but they have not confirmed or denied their relationship status.
Khayalethu Xaba is very close to his family, especially his younger sister Nokuthula, who is also an aspiring actress. He often visits them in Durban during his breaks from work.
