Khaya Dladla is a talented actor, best known for his portrayal of GC in South Africa’s number one soapie, Uzalo.
Age and Early Life
Born on April 3rd, 1990, in the Umalazi BB section, Khaya was the fifth of six children in his household. His parents are Mr Reggie Dladla, who has since passed away, and Thandi Dladla, from the Umlazi G section.
Khaya’s career in acting began at Isipingo Hills Primary School, where his parents enrolled him in ballet classes to keep their hyperactive son busy. Despite being the only boy in the class, Khaya excelled at ballet and had already landed a performance gig by the time he was eight years old. He continued to perform throughout his life, and his passion for the arts only grew stronger.
Khaya Dladla Education
Khaya attended Isipingo Hills Primary School, Hunt Road in Glenwood, for grade 8 and Brittenwood High School for matric. He went on to earn a diploma in advertising from Varsity College before obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Communications from UNISA.
Khaya Dladla Career
While Khaya began his career in theatre, he rose to fame for his portrayal of GC on Uzalo. Though he initially had doubts about the role, he went to the audition at the recommendation of a director and was offered the part. Originally, GC stood for “Gay Character,” but the show’s producers were so impressed by Khaya’s performance that they gave his character a real name: Gamakhulu Cetshwayo.
Recently, the actor is known for his role in House of Zwide playing Laz, who is Funani’s, right-hand man.
Khaya’s performance as GC was unmatched, and the character quickly became a fan favourite. He was even nominated for a Golden Award for Best Supporting Actor in a TV Soap for his portrayal of GC. However, it is rumoured that Khaya will be leaving Uzalo in the next season, much to the dismay of fans.
Khaya Dladla is also a radio DJ and has had a job at Gagasi FM for a number of years now.
Khaya Dladla Personal Life
The actor has dated Mercy Thandabantu, who is a dancer, model, and actress. Despite rumours that Khaya was married, he has never been married. However, he got engaged to Mercutio Buthelezi in 2020, but they split up in 2022. Currently, the actor is making his relationship private and not sharing who is dating or if he is dating.
