Kgomotso Christopher is a renowned South African actress and voice-over artist known for her remarkable performances in both television and theater. She has gained widespread recognition for her roles in popular series such as “Isidingo” as Katlego Sibeko and “Scandal” as Yvonne “YV” Langa.

Background

Kgomotso grew up in Tembisa in East Rand, where her family resides. She speaks seSotho, Afrikaans, English, and isiZulu fluently.

Career

Kgomotso Christopher displayed early signs of talent when she achieved the first runner-up position in the DALRO National Acting competition in 1996. She further pursued her passion for the arts while studying at the National School of the Arts in Braamfontein.

She completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Law and Politics at the University of Cape Town from 1998 to 2000 and was honored with the Jules Kramer Award for Fine Arts upon graduation.

This prestigious recognition enabled her to continue her postgraduate studies at Columbia University in New York City, where she honed her skills under the guidance of Tony Award-winner Andrei Serban and LAMDA-trained voice teacher Kristin Linklater.

In 2004, she earned her M.F.A (Performing Arts) and continued to live and work in both the United States and the United Kingdom until 2008.

During her stay in America she was hired to work behind the scenes for media and entertainment companies. She was employed by Channel 4, the 20th Century Fox, and International and Freemantle Media.

Kgomosto breakthrough came with the starring role in “4Play: Sex Tips for Girls,” and in June 2011, she joined the cast of “Isidingo” as Katlego Sibeko, further solidifying her position in the entertainment industry. She portrayed the character until April 2016.

Throughout her illustrious career, Kgomotso Christopher has graced various television series and theater productions with her talent. Notable guest roles in television include appearances in “Madam & Eve,” “SOS,” “Backstage,” and “Moferefere Lenyalong.

Her theater credits include performances in renowned plays such as “Romeo & Juliet,” “Midsummer Night’s Dream,” “Hamlet,” and “Dr. Faustus.” Moreover, she has appeared in several television commercials for major clients like Vodacom, DStv, and CNA, Nivea.

Additionally, Kgomotso’s versatile vocal talents can be heard as the voice behind MTN’s Interactive Voice Response system. Apart from her acting career, she also serves a Non-Executive Chairperson on the Naledi Theatre Awards Board of Directors, showcasing her dedication to the arts.

The couple tied the knot in 2004 and have maintained a strong and loving marriage despite the distance caused by Calvin’s frequent travels around the globe as a lawyer
