Early Life and Education

Jo-Ann Strauss was born in Cape Town, South Africa, and raised by her father, Johan, and mother, Ingrid. She demonstrated exceptional academic achievements from an early age.

She attended Hottentots-Holland High School, where she excelled academically, graduating as head-girl in 1998 with an impressive aggregate of 93%. Despite being accepted to study medicine at Stellenbosch University, she pursued a different path in the commerce faculty, ultimately graduating with a B.Comm (Law) degree.

Miss South Africa and International Success

In the year 2000, Jo-Ann Strauss achieved national recognition by winning the prestigious title of Miss South Africa. This victory propelled her to represent her country at the Miss Universe pageant in Puerto Rico and the Miss World pageant hosted at Sun City in South Africa in 2001.

Her remarkable 6th-place finish in the Miss World pageant showcased her poise, beauty, and intelligence on the international stage.

Television and Modeling Career

Jo-Ann’s reign as Miss South Africa opened doors in the world of media and entertainment. She began her television presenting career on the popular magazine program “Pasella” on SABC2 in 2001. Subsequently, she joined the presenting team of “Top Billing” on SABC3 in 2005. Through her role on “Top Billing,” Jo-Ann had the opportunity to interview numerous international stars, including fashion icons, musicians, and actors.

Beyond her television career, Jo-Ann’s modelling achievements brought her international recognition. She had the privilege of walking the runway alongside supermodels like Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss, and Elle Macpherson during a fashion show for the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund in Barcelona. Jo-Ann’s charisma and grace made her a sought-after cover girl for various South African magazines.
