Early Life and Education

Jet Novuka was born and raised in Mthatha, South Africa. He demonstrated a passion for acting from a young age and pursued formal training in theatre arts. Novuka graduated from the Fuba School Of Drama And Visual Arts in 1985 and further honed his skills at the Funda Arts Centre.

Jet Novuka Career

Novuka’s acting career took off in 1990 when he made his debut in the film The King’s Messenger. He went on to showcase his talent in various television productions, including Yizo Yizo, Home Affairs, Igazi, Mfolozi Street, Isidingo: The Need, Jacob’s Cross, and Letters of Hope. Additionally, he appeared in acclaimed series such as Montana, 4Play: Sex Tips for Girls, and Home Affairs.

In 2014, Novuka joined the cast of the SABC3 soapie Isidingo as Sizwe Kondile and also landed a lead role in the SABC1 drama series Mfolozi Street. His portrayal of no-nonsense Captain Mpambani in Uzalo garnered further acclaim.

Acclaimed for his outstanding performance in the critically acclaimed film ‘Letters of Hope,’ Jet Novuka has received prestigious recognition. He secured the Best Actor in a Supporting Role award at the esteemed Rapid Lion 2020, as well as the Best Supporting Actor award at the renowned South African International Film Festival Awards.

‘Letters of Hope’ features a stellar cast, including esteemed actors Sibulele Gcilitshana, Luthuli Dlamini, and Aphiwe Mkefe, and Novuka’s portrayal in the film played a pivotal role in its success.

In addition to his acting prowess, Novuka showcases his passion for the industry as the mastermind behind the inaugural Mthatha International Film Festival (MIFF). Through his company, Jetset Creations, Novuka organizes and oversees the four-day film festival, which comprises local and international film screenings and engaging workshops. The MIFF aims to foster collaboration among aspiring local filmmakers and encourages active community participation.
