Biography: Jeffrey Sekele is a South African actor, voice-over artist, and corporate theatre performer who has appeared in various television and film productions. He is best known for his roles as Blade in Isibaya, Solomon in Jozi-H, and Isaac Molapo in House of Zwide.
Early Life and Education
Jeffrey Sekele was born on 20 August 1973 in Leeufontein, near Marble Hall in Limpopo, South Africa. He attended Mahlontebe Secondary School for his basic education. He then pursued his higher studies at Technikon Pretoria, where he graduated in 1999.
Jeffrey Sekele Acting Career
Sekele began his professional acting career in 1997 when he appeared in a minor role as Advocate Mosomi in the television serial Muvhango. He then went on to play various supporting roles in other serials such as Soul Buddyz, Zero Tolerance, and Gaz’lam. In 2006, he made his film debut with Heartlines, where he played the role of Ditch Foreman. He also joined the cast of the Canadian-South African television drama series Jozi-H, where he portrayed the character of Solomon.
In 2008, Sekele acted in the crime mafia film Gangster’s Paradise: Jerusalema, which was based on the life of a notorious gangster in Johannesburg. He also appeared in the second season of the serial The Lab, where he played the role of Jimmy Fuyana. In 2010, he made notable appearances in several international television serials, such as the M-Net serial Jacob’s Cross and the British-American action-adventure spy serial Strike Back. He also starred in the thriller film 48, where he played the role of Fistaz Mphahlele.
In 2013, Jeffrey Sekele joined the cast of the Mzansi Magic telenovela-turned-soap-opera Isibaya, where he played the role of Blade, Bhekifa’s right-hand man. He received widespread acclaim for his performance in this role, which showcased his versatility and talent. In 2021, he started to act in the e.tv television drama series House of Zwide, where he played the role of Isaac Molapo, a veteran township gangster and mechanic.
Apart from acting, Sekele is also a voice-over artist who has worked for various clients such as Thobela FM, KPMG, Fedsure, Sasol, Woolworths, SABC Sport, Vodacom, and ABSA. He has an extensive corporate theatre resume and has performed in various shows and events.
