Gail Mabalane was born on December 27, 1984. As of 2023, she is 39 years old.

Background

Gail Mabalane hails from Kimberley, Northern Cape, South Africa. She was born as the middle child into a family of five, which included her mother, father, and two other siblings. Tragically, in 2006, her mother passed away due to a long-term illness, following the untimely death of her brother in an electrical accident. In 2013, another blow struck as her father passed away.

Career

Modeling and Early Recognition

Gail’s journey in the world of entertainment began early when her mother discovered her modeling abilities and entered her into her first pageant, Miss Tinkerbell, at the tender age of 5. Recognizing her potential, her entire family rallied behind her. In 2005, she made her mark by reaching the top 5 at the Miss SA Teen finals.

Idols SA and Singing Career

In 2010, Gail auditioned for the sixth season of Idols SA, a prominent singing competition. She showcased her vocal talents and secured a place in the Top 10 finalists during the same year. Her journey in the competition ended after performing “Please Don’t Leave Me” by American Pop Rock singer P!nk.

Acting Debut and Film

Gail Mabalane’s major acting debut occurred in 2011 when she portrayed Lelo Sedibe in the MNet Series, “The Wild,” alongside the esteemed South African actress Connie Ferguson. Although the show was canceled by MNet in 2013, it marked the beginning of her acting career. In 2012, she made her film debut in “Zion.”

From 2013 to 2014, Gail played a minor role as Vicky in “Rockville.” In 2015, she joined the cast of “Generations: The Legacy,” one of South Africa’s most-watched television soap operas, and portrayed the character Sarah Westbrook.

Simultaneously, she starred in “The Road” as Kedibone “Kedi” Seakgoes / Stella Phiri, appearing in all 60 episodes of the series.

Continuing her television success, she reprised her role as Vicky in “Rockville” in 2016 and joined the second season of “The Imposter” in 2018, playing the main role of Kelenogile Mokoena.

Gail Mabalane’s acting career has continued to flourish, and she most recently starred in the Netflix series “Blood & Water.” This series also features the popular South African Hip Hop star, Nasty C, and further solidified her status as a prominent actress in South Africa.

Gail Mabalane is married to the South African Kwaito legend, Kabelo Mabalane.

The couple exchanged vows in a private ceremony on February 9th, 2013, and they have since remained together. Their union has been blessed with the joy of two children.
