Dr Nandipha Magudumana Biography & Profile

Dr Nandipha, also known as Nandipha Sekeleni Magudumana, is a South African medical doctor, surgeon, entrepreneur, alleged criminal and the founder and CEO of Optimum Medical Solutions.

Dr Nandipha Magudumana is a renowned medical professional who specializes in the field of aesthetics, which encompasses plastic surgery, dermatology, and pharmaceuticals.

According to some sources, Dr Nandipha was born on 15 September 1989.  This means that she is turning  34 years old in 2023.

Family

Dr Nandipha Magudumana was born as Nandipha Sekeleni in Bizana, Eastern Cape, and was raised by her mother in Port Edward, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Her father is Zolile Cornelius Sekeleni, but details about her mother are not publicly available. Magudumana has a brother called Nathi Sekeleni.

Education & Qualifications

She attended Port Edward Primary School and completed her high school education at Port Shepstone High School. She then pursued her Bachelor of Health Sciences degree (BHSc) in Biomedical Sciences, as well as a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB), both from the University of the Witwatersrand.

Career and Achievements

Dr Nandipha Magudumana is the founder and CEO of Optimum Medical Aesthetics, a skincare and aesthetic clinic in Sandton that specializes in non-surgical treatments such as Botox, hairline restoration, and chemical peels. She is an accomplished medical doctor and surgeon with years of experience in her field.

She began her medical career at Edenvale Hospital between 2014 and 2015 before securing a position at Far East Rand Hospital. In 2017, she founded Optimum Medical Aesthetics Solutions, a state-of-the-art aesthetic and skincare clinic located in Morningside, Sandton, Johannesburg. The clinic provides an array of non-surgical treatments that cater to clients’ individual needs.

Dr Magudumana’s reputation in the medical field has continued to grow, and she has been privileged to serve several high-profile clients, including the famous Zozibini Tunzi. In recognition of her exemplary work, she was featured in the Mail & Guardian’s 200 Young South Africans list in 2018, where she was recognized as one of the Top 20 Most Influential Young South Africans. Furthermore, she was listed among the SADC Top 100 Young Leaders, cementing her position as one of the leading young medical professionals in the region.

Husband

Dr Nandipha is married to Dr Mkhuseli Magudumana.  Dr Nandipha and Dr Mkhuseli Magudumana got married in 2013 and were subsequently blessed with two lovely children.

Although the exact date of their separation is unknown, sources allege that Dr Nandipha began to reconnect with Thabo Bester in 2016, while he was incarcerated for rape.

 

Relationship With Thabo Bester

Nandipha and Thabo Bester’s relationship goes back to 2006, when they met when the doctor was still studying at Wits University. During this period, Thabo owned a modelling agency, and Nandipha even helped him promote it.

After 2011, the two lost touch, and their lives took different paths. Nandipha became a doctor, got married, and started a family. Meanwhile, Thabo was sentenced to life imprisonment for sexual assault and murder after achieving infamy as the “Facebook Rapist.”

Around 2016, Nandipha began reconnecting with Thabo while he was still in prison. She began visiting him in 2017, and their relationship rekindled. Eventually, Nandipha took a significant risk and put everything on the line by working towards freeing Thabo and being with him.  She even abandoned her career, her family, her children as well as her freedom and went on the run with Thabo.

 

Nandipha Magudumana & Thabo’s Arrest 2023 Arrest In Tanzania

On April 7th, 2023, Nandipha Magudumana and Thabo Bester were captured in Tanzania after evading authorities. They possessed numerous passports with different identities from various nations.

Nandipha Magudumana was travelling under the alias Martha Patience Mmerika Ntashani, who works as an anesthesiologist in Pretoria, South Africa.

Thabo Bester, on the other hand, was travelling under the pseudonym of Tommy William Kelly, an American citizen, in addition to having multiple other identities.

Zakaria Alberto, a Mozambican national, was also detained for assisting the fugitive couple.

The South African fugitive couple reportedly travelled from Johannesburg to Bulawayo, then to Zambia before ultimately arriving in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. They were taken into custody in Arusha, Tanzania, while allegedly en route to Kenya.

 

Dr. Nandipha Facing Allegations of Helping Prison Escapee Thabo Bester

In May 2022, convicted criminal Thabo Bester escaped from prison, allegedly with the help of Dr. Magudumana. The doctor is accused of stealing three bodies from mortuaries in the Free State to aid in Bester’s escape. Bester had initially been pronounced dead by suicide after he set himself on fire in his prison cell at the Mangaung Correctional Centre. However, further investigation revealed that the body found in the cell was not his, and that the individual had already died before the cell was burned down.

It has been reported by KayaFM that Dr. Nandipha and Thabo Bester were living together at her Hyde Park mansion and were seen in Sandton City in June 2022. When news outlet Groundup reported on March 16th, 2023, that the two had been seen together, they reportedly fled on March 21st. Dr Nandipha then announced via Instagram that her clinic would be open for business from March 29th. Her father, Zolile Cornelius Sekeleni, later confirmed to eNCA that his daughter was in hiding.

On April 7th, 2023, Nandipha Magudumana’s father was arrested at his home in Port Edward. Senohe Matsoara, a former prison warden, was also arrested the next day in Bloemfontein. In an interview with eNCA, Dr Nandipha’s brother Nathi Sekeleni revealed that Thabo Bester had threatened to kill him multiple times when he discovered his true identity. Nathi had accused Nandipha of being involved with a criminal who funded her events in a now-deleted 2011 Facebook post.
