Dieketseng Mnisi was born on 9 August 1961 in Soweto. She grew up during the apartheid era but did not let that stop her from pursuing her dream of acting. She joined various theatre groups, including the famous Gibson Kente play, where she honed her skills and passion for the stage. Dieketseng attended Dowling Avenue Primary School in Westbury and Hoerskool Die Burger in Roodepoort. She later studied motion picture at AFDA, majoring in film editing.
