This is the biography of Dieketseng Mnisi, a South African actress who has been in the entertainment industry for over four decades. She is best known for her roles as Masechaba Moletsane in the SABC2 sitcom Stokve and Nontombi “Mantuli” Seakamela in the SABC1 drama series Skeem Saam. Dieketseng has also appeared in many other TV shows and movies, such as Yizo Yizo, Zone 14, Intersexions, and The Queen.

 

Early Life and Education

Dieketseng Mnisi was born on 9 August 1961 in Soweto. She grew up during the apartheid era but did not let that stop her from pursuing her dream of acting. She joined various theatre groups, including the famous Gibson Kente play, where she honed her skills and passion for the stage. Dieketseng attended Dowling Avenue Primary School in Westbury and Hoerskool Die Burger in Roodepoort. She later studied motion picture at AFDA, majoring in film editing.

 

Dieketseng Mnisi Acting Career and Achievements

Dieketseng Mnisi started her career as a talk show host for Soweto TV when she was 16. She then moved to acting and debuted in the SABC1 drama series Yizo Yizo in 1999, where she played the role of a teacher. She then appeared in TV shows like Zone 14 and The Throne.

Dieketseng rose to fame when she landed the role of Masechaba Moletsane, the pastor’s wife, in the SABC2 sitcom Stokvel, which ran from 2007 to 2012. She won the hearts of many viewers with her comedic and charismatic performance. She also won the Golden Horn Award for Best Actress in a Comedy in 2010.

Dieketseng is currently playing the role of Nontombi “Mantuli” Seakamela, the mother of three children, in the SABC1 drama series Skeem Saam, which she joined in 2013. She portrays a strong and loving woman who faces various challenges and conflicts in her family and community. The actress has received praise and recognition for her role and has been nominated for several awards, such as the SAFTA for Best Supporting Actress in a TV Soap in 2017.
