Biography: Daliwonga Matiwane, better known by his stage name Daliwonga, is a South African singer and songwriter who specializes in Amapiano music. Amapiano is a genre of electronic music that blends elements of house, jazz, and kwaito. He has collaborated with some of the biggest names in the industry, such as Kabza De Small, DJ Maphorisa, Sha Sha, and Mdu aka TRP.

Daliwonga Early Life and Education

Daliwonga was born on June 4, 1994, in Diepkloof, Soweto, Gauteng Province. He has a twin brother named Dalindyebo, who is also a musician. Daliwonga developed a passion for music at a young age and started singing along to songs on the radio. He attended Fons Luminus Secondary School, where he graduated in 2012.

The vocalist made his debut in 2019 with the song “Uyang’testa”, which featured Kabza De Small and DJ Maphorisa. The song was a hit and introduced him to a wider audience. He then signed with BlaqBoy Music, a record label owned by DJ Maphorisa. He released his first EP, Uyang’testa, in April 2020, which contained six tracks. The EP wgot critical acclaim from fans and critics alike.

In November 2020, he released his second EP, Chameleon, which featured 13 tracks and guest appearances from Focalistic, Bontle Smith, Tyler ICU, and others. The EP was a commercial success and reached number one on the iTunes South Africa chart. Some of the popular songs from the EP include “Jabula”, “Phata Phata”, “Gumba Fire”, and “Menemene”.

Daliwonga has also been featured on several songs by other artists, such as “iLog Drum” by Kabza De Small and DJ Maphorisa, “My Love” by Nicole Elocine, Nia Peal and Bontle Smith, and “Banyana by Tyler ICU and DJ Maphorisa.

Daliwonga has been nominated for several awards for his music, such as the South African Music Awards (SAMA), the African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA), and the MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA). He has also performed at various events and festivals across the country.
