Bryoni Natalie Govender is a South African model and beauty queen who achieved the position of first runner-up at the Miss South Africa 2023 pageant.
Family and Background
Bryoni, of Indian descent, hails from Kempton Park, Gauteng, South Africa. Her mother, Shireen Govender, is the owner of ChesaNyama Primrose in Primrose, Germiston, Ekurhuleni, Gauteng. Interestingly, Bryoni was named after an English romance novel by her mother.
Bryoni Govender attended Ashton International College in Goedeburg, Benoni, East Rand, Gauteng, from 2010 to 2014. She furthered her education by studying law at the University of Johannesburg, graduating in 2019.
Her professional journey as a lawyer began with her role as a legal advisor at the law clinic of the University of Johannesburg from July 2019 to December 2019.
Bryoni also served as a tutor for practical business law to freshmen, sophomores, and juniors at the University of Johannesburg from January 2020 to December 2020. In September 2020, she gained practical experience as a vacation work student at Clyde & Co in Johannesburg.
From May 2021 to May 2023, Bryoni worked as a candidate attorney at Eversheds Sutherland in Melrose, Johannesburg. She continued her legal endeavours as a part-time legal advisor from January 2022 to August 2022.
In August 2022, she successfully completed her practical legal training at the Law Society of South Africa in Pretoria. From May 2023 to June 2023, she held the position of associate designate at Eversheds Sutherland.
Bryoni Govender’s modelling journey commenced with her victory in the Miss Centurion Schools 2012 competition on May 12, 2012. She continued to shine in the pageant world, claiming the title of Teen Face of the North 2012 on September 10, 2012. Her accomplishments culminated in being crowned Miss Jnr South Africa 2013.
In 2018, Bryoni represented Gauteng at the prestigious Miss South Africa 2018 pageant, where she competed against 27 other candidates and secured a place in the Top 12 finalists.
She also had the honour of serving as a judge, alongside her mother, at the annual beauty pageant of Natchie Pre-school in Kempton Park on August 20, 2018.
On August 13, 2023, Bryoni represented Gauteng once again at the Miss South Africa 2023 competition, where she showcased her beauty and talent alongside six other exceptional finalists at the SunBet Arena in Time Square, Pretoria.
Though she attained the position of first runner-up behind Natasha Joubert she was granted her the opportunity to represent South Africa at the esteemed Miss Universe 2023 pageant.
Bryoni Govender is in a relationship with Samir “Kokota Piano” Nurković, a footballer who played for Kaizer Chiefs from 2019 to 2022.
