This is the biography of  Brenda Mtambo, she is aa multifaceted figure in South Africa’s music scene. She boasts a career spanning numerous roles as a singer, artist, performer, and entrepreneur, firmly establishing herself within the industry.

The Afro Soul performer was part of the popular gospel musical group Joyous Celebration. She has contributed backing vocals to various South African musical stars, including Hugh Masekela, Sibongile Khumalo, Judith Sephuma, Lira, Thandiswa Mazwai, and Jonas Gwangwa

Early Life and Education

She was born in Empangeni, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.  Brenda Mtambo spent her formative years in Umlazi, Durban, under the care of strict grandparents. Her journey with music began at a tender age, discovering her musical flair during Grade one and using music as a means of self-expression as a shy child. Recognizing her potential in music, she aspired to transform her humble beginnings through education. Mtambo pursued her studies in Umlazi, ­outside Durban, eventually graduating with a BCom in accounting from the University of Durban-Westville

Brenda Mtambo Career

Initially, music was a passion she pursued in her spare time. However, her trajectory changed upon joining the gospel group Joyous Celebration, where she spent a decade honing her musical skills. Her tenure with Joyous Celebration was instrumental in shaping her musical journey, providing her with invaluable experience performing globally and cultivating the realization that music could indeed be a thriving career.

Her debut album, “Inspired,” produced under Joyous Records, marked a significant milestone in her solo career. Alongside her solo ventures, Brenda Mtambo lent her vocal prowess to numerous acclaimed local artists, sharing the stage with industry icons such as Hugh Masekela, Sibongile Khumalo, Judith Sephuma, Lira, Thandiswa Mazwai, and Jonas Gwangwa.
