Blue Mbombo’s parents named her Azul while her twin sister’s name is Acastanho. Azul is the Portuguese name meaning blue while Acastanho means brown.

Early Life and Background

Growing up in Kutlwanong, Free State, Blue and Brown Mbombo were raised by loving parents

Tragically, Blue’s father passed away a few years ago, which profoundly impacted her. Despite her multilingual background, she has worked on her accent to continue her self-improvement journey.

Education

She pursued her education at Rosebank College, Johannesburg, where she focused on a course in public relations.

Blue showed keen interest in the entertainment industry from a young age. In 2004, she made her debut as a brand ambassador for New Look Hair Salon featured in a magazine. Encouraged by her father, she recognized the importance of mastering English to succeed in the industry. Despite facing mockery for her accent, Blue’s determination remained unshaken.

Modelling Career

Blue embarked on her career as a model, making her initial breakthrough by participating in the modelling competition Diamond in The Rough. To her surprise, she was awarded a scholarship by the show’s creators and management. After her college graduation, Blue Mbombo auditioned for Big Brother Mzansi and secured a place as one of the housemates in 2015. This marked a turning point in her career as she emerged as the 1st runner-up in the competition, capturing the South African public’s and media’s attention. In 2016, Blue was honoured as Mzansi’s Sexiest Female Celebrity, further solidifying her status in the industry. She has collaborated with renowned brands in her modelling career, including Clere Radience, Himeros Luxury Swimwear, and Dark and Lovely. Additionally, she made appearances on shows like Diski Diva before leaving the program in 2017 to explore other ventures.

In 2017, Blue signed with Vth Season, a prominent marketing agency representing celebrities like Big Star and Berita. Simultaneously, she began taking private acting lessons with hopes of securing acting roles. Beyond modelling and acting, Blue is a savvy businesswoman with her own clothing line.

Shopping Addiction

Blue Mbombo has candidly discussed her past struggles with what she referred to as a “shopping addiction,” particularly during stressful times. She admitted to owning extensive collections of expensive designer shoes and clothing, which had led to concerns raised by her partners in previous relationships. She has since asserted that she has overcome this “addiction” and now exercises control over her spending habits.

Blue Mbombo Love Life

Blue Mbombo’s romantic history includes a relationship with Mpumalanga Black Aces midfielder Onyekachi Okonkwo, although the duration of their relationship is not publicly known. Her choice to participate in Big Brother Mzansi led to their breakup, as Okonkwo reportedly issued an ultimatum.

Subsequently, Blue found love within the confines of the reality television show, forming a relationship with rapper Katlego ‘K2’ Mabusela.

Their romance continued for a period before they parted ways in 2016, an event confirmed by Blue through a social media post.

In 2017, Blue revealed her experience of being dumped via a heartfelt message on one of her photographs, although she did not disclose the identity of the ex-boyfriend. This marked a chapter in her journey of personal growth and resilience.

By February 2018, Blue reported being in a content and happy relationship, though the identity of her partner remains undisclosed.

Children

On February 14, 2022, Blue Mbombo surprised her audience by sharing a video displaying her baby bump, officially announcing her pregnancy.

She welcomed her beautiful baby girl into the world on the 16th of April 2022. Blue Mbombo recently celebrated her daughter  Zalika’s 1st birthday.

Blue Mbombo hosted a majestic ‘Dior’ pink-themed party in celebration of her little princess’s first birthday.

The reality TV star took to her timeline sharing images from the event with the caption:

Still can’t believe I am a mother to a one-year-old … Zali’s first birthday party was so dreamy.”
