This is the biography of Ayanda Borotho (née Ngubane), she is a renowned South African actress, author, and model. She is best known for her contributions to the entertainment industry.

Early Life

Ayanda Borotho was born in the township of Ntuzuma near the city of Durban in the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa. She received her education at Brettonwood High School in Umbilo, Durban, where she developed her skills in speech and drama. Following her passion for the arts, Borotho pursued an Integrated Marketing Communications diploma at the AAA School of Advertising from 1999 to 2001, specializing in strategic brand management.

Career

Borotho’s acting career took off in 1999 when she secured the role of Thami, a babysitting schoolgirl, in the popular SABC 1 soap opera “Generations.” She made a brief appearance in the Leon Schuster film “Mr Bones” in 2000. In 2007, Borotho replaced Zinzile Zungu as Nomzamo in the SABC 1 sitcom “Nomzamo” for its second season, portraying the character until 2010. She also played the minor role of Busi in the fourth season of the SABC 1 drama series “Home Affairs” in 2009.

In 2013, Ayanda Borotho joined the cast of Mzansi Magic’s telenovela “IsiBaya” as Phumelele, further showcasing her acting prowess. She continued to excel in her craft and in 2018, she landed the role of Khethiwe in the South African television drama series “Ambition.” Notably, in 2022, Borotho secured a prominent role as Dr. Busisiwe in SABC 1’s “Generations: The Legacy,” solidifying her position as a versatile actress.

Throughout her career, Borotho has consistently impressed audiences with her talent. In 2022, she took on the role of Vakashile Buthelezi in Mzansi Magic’s drama series “uZulu noMhlaba.” Additionally, in the same year, she portrayed Queen Nandi’s mother in the series “Shaka Ilembe.”

Borotho’s versatility was further showcased when she starred alongside Siyabonga Shibe and Zodumo Shange in Mzansi Wethu’s first original telenovela, “Sibongile & The Dlaminis,” which aired in 2023.

Furthermore, she also bagged a role on ‘The River‘ in June 2023. She starred as Zanemvula Shange in season finale of ‘The River.’

Authorship

In 2019, Ayanda Borotho released her book titled “Unbecoming to Become.” This autobiography challenges social norms, cultural practices, gender hierarchies, and Christian teachings, among others. In the book, Borotho also shares personal experiences from her childhood, her journey in marriage, and her career in communications and marketing.

Personal Life

Ayanda Ngubane is married to a doctor, although her husband’s identity is not widely known. Together, they have three children.
