Early Life and Education

Born in Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal, Anele Zondo is the youngest of four daughters in a family of scholars. Her parents, both intellectuals, include her father, a principal, and her mother, a teacher.

Before her rise to fame, Anele took on various jobs, such as working as a receptionist, delivery girl, and personal assistant for Mozondo Food Services, a food business owned by her sister. She later pursued her education and obtained a Media Studies diploma through Boston Media House after matriculating.

Anele Zondo Acting Career

Anele Zondo’s acting career began shortly after completing her media studies. She made her first television appearance as a receptionist in the second season of the Mzansi Magic drama series “It’s Complicated,” debuting in Season 2, Episode 5, which aired on November 6, 2016. Her talents caught the attention of the industry.

Her next acting endeavour was a cameo in an episode of another Mzansi Magic drama, “Saints and Sinners,” in Season 3, Episode 11, which aired on March 19, 2017. In the same year, Anele auditioned for the MTV Base VJ Search and made it to the Top 10.

In 2017, she began shadowing the presenters of the Mzansi Magic / Channel O co-production “Massive Music,” which included Lalla Hirayama and Smash Afrika. This experience led to her becoming a permanent presenter on the show.

A defining moment in Anele’s career came when she landed the recurring role of Faith in the 1Magic soapie “The River,” appearing from the very first episode on January 29, 2018. Her portrayal of Faith earned her substantial recognition in South Africa, opening doors for more opportunities in the entertainment industry.

In subsequent years, she continued to secure roles in various television series, further cementing her status as a talented actress.

In 2020, Anele was named the new host of the SABC1 reality competition series “One Mic,” replacing Bontle Modiselle, who hosted the show in Season 2. She also co-hosts “Telkom Monate Vibes,” a role she considers a dream come true, allowing her to incorporate her fashion sense and versatile talents into the show.

Music Career

Anele Zondo, known for her versatility, added the title of rapper to her growing list of talents.

In response to the challenges posed by the entertainment industry during the pandemic, she ventured into music. Anele released a single titled “Vuka Bo,” expressing her desire to create music that resonates with her South African roots.

Boyfriend

Anele Zondo has maintained a private personal life, keeping her romantic relationships away from the public eye. On one occasion, she shared a photo of herself standing with her partner, their faces turned away from the camera.

Her mystery man was later identified as South African rapper Zingah, although the exact date of their relationship’s commencement remains undisclosed. The couple appears to have been together for a considerable period, enjoying a low-profile yet meaningful relationship.

Meanwhile, in September 2023, Anele Zondo was reported to be in a relationship with Zimbabwean socialite and entertainment promoter Mr Styllz, whose real name is Prince Mudzingwa.  The relationship came to light after Mr Styllz made their relationship “Instagram official,” sharing delightful moments of their baecation in Turkey on his Instagram Stories.
